My name is Sherly Thornton and I have been baking as long as I can remember.

My own Mom's porter cake is where my business started.

It began by carrying on her legacy of baking traditional porter cakes and Christmas cakes and I still use my Mom's same recipe today.

From baking at the table with my Mom, to owning my own HSE approved, fully registered business, I have always held a good working ethos and a belief that you have to get out there and make things happen for yourself.

Mom's Porter Cake has grown into the success that it is today, largely due to the support of clients both old and new.

 

I  always ensure that I use only the best quality ingredients, and from local suppliers where possible. Each of my cakes are made to your specifications and offer you a unique and bespoke cake like no other.

I was honoured to receive Connect Kerry Women in Business, Home Business of  the Year Award 2018. This is an accolade that I am so very proud of. To see, women supporting women, in this unique event is something to behold.

In November 2018 my Chocolate & Vanilla Fudge Cake won the Highly Commended Award for Kerry LEO Best Emerging Artisan Food Product at the 2018 Listowel Food Fair. I was delighted to receive this award as it was in the highly contested Baked Goods category.

Lastly, every single item that goes in my oven does get a little prayer to my Mom, as without her recipes and influence, and her guidance from above, I would not be in business today.
